English T-Shirts

I believe I can fry....
For English Camp, a friend of mine suggested making English t-shirts. This year I had the students practice on a piece of paper first then they used the white shirts they brought and permanent markers for their creations. I just love what they came up with.

Soyeoung loves herself, YAY!

I love English first and my family second....perfect!

Give me a million won.

Jinhyeok will never forget how to spell his name again.

Rodin Saturday

Hannah, Corinna and myself went to the art museum this past Saturday as well as a temple to get a little culture. The exhibit was all about Rodin. Rodin is the man who sculpted the Thinker.

We are too cool in France!

Our temple trip. I love that you can see the temple and then the highrises behind it! I also "love" that at least two of us got burnt after our little walk outside, which may have only been for about an hour. . .

Crazy Week

Oh man I feel like I have been rushing and never breathing this week! Exhausting but always fun!

Monday: FHE -Family Home Evening; A group of us singles meet up every week for a little spirituality and awesomeness. This week I taught the lesson about Enduring to the End. Then we watched the EPIC Steve Irwin!

Tuesday: I had to meet up with my friend EunYeong to talk about our upcoming trip to Busan. We are going from beach to beach, I CAN NOT WAIT! I am however going to look like a cherry tomato.

Wednesday: Magic Perm--that is the actual name! This is a 3 hour process of straightening out one's hair. But the result, tamed, soft, gorgeous hair!!

Thursday: Had to go to the hospital for my last checkup with the toothpick incident. This appointment was to go over my CT scan-- my convo with Dr. O:

Dr. O: Oh you all cleared. But you have a gall stone, it is rather large. Do not worry.

Me: A what?! It's how big? Can't we just zap it right now?

Dr. O: Ohh, do not worry Amber. It's not a problem now. It's only a problem if it moves.

Me: Let's laser it!

Dr. O: Amber you are so funny!

I was totally serious....

Friday: Clubbin at one my fav spots in Seoul, Monkey Beach with my buddy, Robyn. We both love those men in uniform...

It's been a full week with lots of adventures!

K-POP

To say that I like K-Pop, is like saying fish enjoy water...
I needz my K-Pop! Yes, I might be addicted but at least it's a healthy addiction...right?

In light of this addiction I made a blog a while back all about K-Pop.
http://obessionkpop.blogspot.com/

If you are looking for insights into the music or to understand the deeper meaning of the tune, Marshmallow (http://obessionkpop.blogspot.com/2009/12/comeback-marshmallow.html)
then that blog is definately not for you. I just like having a collection of songs to fall back on and to show others back home.

ROKetship

ROKetship is a comic made by Luke Martin and it is hillarious!

Here is the link to his website: http://roketship.tumblr.com/tagged/konglish
You can also find him in Facebook as well under ROKetship.
Here is a review I found on his FB page:

ROKetship IS my life in Korea. Author/Illustrator Luke Martin has perfectly captured the experience of being an expat in Korea. It is often hard to explain what life is like to those who haven't lived here, but he has certainly nailed it on the head!

His clever depictions of both the obvious and more subtle aspects of Korean culture and life as a foreigner are funny and insightful without being insensitive or insulting. You know you've got gold when upon reading every comic, one's immediate response is "It's so True! I remember when that happened to me....".

This book is ideal for both foreign expats with experience in the Land of Morning Calm who have tried to explain to others what their life is like, those considering moving to the ROK, or anyone who appreciates reading about other cultures.

Summer in Korea

I was informed my first week back to the hospital at school that I needed to get my bulletin board which is out in the hallway in order, pronto. Good thing my mother was here and creative genius! She made the summer in korea back ground while my students made the projects. My 3-4th graders di dthe ice cream cones to learn about summer while the 5-6th graders did summer brochures about what they were going to do.

My student, Taeji made this brochure. Notice the extreme fire action going on in the center fold. What is hwak you ask? Good question...

I have really talented students!

Happy Silver Day!

Happy Silver Day in Korea!
Today, couples can freely ask their friends to give them money to pay for a date! Couples also exchange gifts made of silver, and announce their relationship to their friends.
