Thankful for #7

I am thankful today for WWII veterans.  Today is December 7th.  This day in 1941 the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, which kicked the USA into World War II officially.  The attacked killed about 2,403 people and left hundreds wounded. 

My grandfather was a WWII veteran.  He never talked about his experience to us grandkids.  But from what my mother and grandmother told me, he was in France and possibly Germany around 1945.  This is when the war was ending and US troops were finally seeing concentration camps.  I can not even imagine what those men went through when they first entered the camps and saw all those awful things.

Yes, I know that I missed yesterday.  My friend is home for just a short time on leave so we have been hanging out alot.  Anyways!

Thankful for number six!

I am thankful for mail!!!  I love sending mail! I love getting mail!  I love, love, love when people tell me about how much they enjoyed getting their mail.  I am so glad I am able to send boxes and letters to my friends and family with ease this year.  Say what you will about the Postal Service, but I am thankful for them today too!

Today I am thankful for freedom of religion. 

I do not think I have mentioned this in my blog before but I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, also known as Mormons.

Now I do get some heat for being part of the Mormon community but that's okay because I can choose to be apart of it.  I could choose to be Catholic, Lutheran, Buddhist, atheist, or worship goats while drinking Mt. Dew....whatever. 

Say what you want about America but we can choose to be part of whatever religion we want and for that I am very, very, very grateful.

I'm thankful for family craziness.

Every year I BEG to get the tree out the day after Thanksgiving...I seem to always forget though that there is actually work involved in Christmas decorating.  Yes, I do wish there were magic elves who could transform the house into a winter wonderland.  Those elves would be my mom and I, plus dad, who hangs the lights outside on the house.  We always end up arguing and this year was no different.

Thankful for #3

!!!!FACEBOOK!!!!

I am thankful for Facebook.  Do I remember a time without facebook, yes, yes I do.  They were dark days when I had to actually hold a conversation with someone on the phone, texting, or some other messenger.  I just couldn't leave a message for them, fb chat them, poke them, invite them to games, leave videos for them to look at.  How did I share it with them....

In all seriousness, facebook is awesome with keeping up with your buddies.  I love that I can leave photos, links and vids for my friends all over the world, wherever they may be.

PLUS!  Facebook has been an awesome tool when dating guys.  My first year in Korea

 about 6 months in, I met an army man through a couple of friends.  We dated for about a month and half.  This incidently is when I started posting a few pictures of us together on facebook.  The relationship however abruptly ended when a woman facebooked me, with a picture of my then boyfriend and her together.  Wierd.  It was his fiance.

For stories like this:  My friend Amy on the far left is a girl that I met in Korea on the subway.  I had a Nebraska key chain on my purse, she saw it and asked me, "Hey, are you from Nebraska?"  I turned my head, wondering who this crazy person was on the subway talking to me.  We kept talking however and found out that we only about 40 minutes away from each other in the states, our dads work together, and we were both going to the same church together. 

The world really IS small.

Why are you thankful for where you live?

I am thankful for being back in Nebraska.  Look at this!  Gorgeous!!!  I love being able to drive in areas like this and not being in city all the time.
